Frequently Asked Questions

We answer your questions before you invest.

Before Buying

1. How does the inverter pool heat pump work?

An inverter pool heat pump transfers heat from the surrounding air into your pool water through a refrigerant cycle system.

Instead of generating heat directly like an electric heater, it:

  • Absorbs heat from ambient air
  • Compresses and amplifies the heat energy
  • Transfers it to the pool water via a titanium heat exchanger

The inverter compressor automatically adjusts its speed based on heating demand.

This allows the system to:

  • Maintain stable water temperature
  • Operate more efficiently
  • Reduce energy consumption
  • Run more quietly
2. Why choose an Inverter Pool Heat Pump?

Traditional pool heat pumps operate in simple on/off cycles, running at full power and shutting down repeatedly.

Inverter heat pumps work differently. They continuously adjust compressor speed to match the exact heating demand of your pool.

The result is:

  • Up to 60–80% lower energy consumption
  • Much quieter operation
  • More stable water temperature
  • Longer equipment lifespan: 10years +
  • Smarter Control: touch screen + app control

Inverter technology makes pool heating smarter, quieter, and more efficient.

3. Are Pool Heat Pumps Suitable for All Climates?

Pool heat pumps perform best in mild to warm climates, where they can efficiently extract heat from the air.

Modern inverter heat pumps can still operate in cooler temperatures, but heating efficiency may decrease as the ambient temperature drops.

For colder regions, choosing a higher-capacity model can help maintain comfortable pool temperatures.

4. What Size Pool Can a Heat Pump Heat?

Pool heat pumps are designed for a wide range of pool sizes, from small residential pools to larger backyard pools.

The key factor is matching the heating capacity (BTU) of the unit with the volume of your pool in gallons.

Proper sizing ensures faster heating, better efficiency, and lower operating costs.

5. Is a Pool Heat Pump Expensive to Run?

Pool heat pumps are one of the most energy-efficient pool heating solutions available.

Instead of generating heat directly, they transfer heat from the surrounding air, allowing them to produce several units of heat energy for every unit of electricity consumed.

This results in much lower operating costs compared to gas heaters.

6. What specifications matter when choosing a pool heat pump?

When selecting a pool heat pump, there are a few key specifications that really matter:

1. Heating Capacity (BTU)

This determines how powerful the heater is and how large a pool it can handle. Matching the BTU output to your pool size ensures efficient heating.

2. Energy Efficiency (COP)

COP shows how efficiently the heat pump converts electricity into heat.

For example, a COP of 5 means the unit produces five units of heat for every unit of electricity used.

3. Noise Level

If the heat pump is installed near a house or backyard seating area, quieter operation can make a big difference.

4. Climate Compatibility

If you live in a cooler region, choose a model with higher capacity so it can maintain pool temperature when the air gets colder.

5. Pool Size & Water Volume

The size of your pool (gallons or dimensions) is the most important factor when choosing the right model.

In short, the best heat pump is one that matches your pool size, climate, and energy efficiency needs.

Products

1. What is the difference of Flow Pro 48&58, Flow Max 80&107?

The main difference between these models is heating capacity and the pool size they are designed for.

the bigger the number, the stronger the heating power.

Larger units heat water faster and maintain temperature more easily, especially for bigger pools or cooler environments.

2. Can I install it myself?

For models: Flow Pro 48, Flow Pro 58, Flow Max 80, and Flow Max 107, professional installation is REQUIRED. because these units require proper plumbing and electrical wiring to ensure safe and optimal operation.

If you choose the 110V model, the unit is designed to be more user-friendly and may come with a plug for easier connection. However, we still strongly recommend installing and operating the heat pump with basic technical knowledge and following all safety guidelines.

For best performance and safety, installation should be handled by someone who understands pool circulation systems and electrical requirements. Proper installation helps ensure stable operation, better heating efficiency, and longer equipment life.

Once installed correctly, the heat pump will operate automatically and require very little daily maintenance.

3. How much does it cost to run a pool heat pump?

Pool heat pumps are one of the most energy-efficient ways to heat a swimming pool.

Instead of generating heat directly, they transfer heat from the surrounding air into the water, which allows them to produce multiple units of heat for every unit of electricity used.

In many cases, the operating cost is significantly lower than gas pool heaters, especially when using modern inverter heat pump technology.

The exact cost will depend on factors such as:

  • Outdoor temperature

  • Pool size

  • Desired water temperature

  • Local electricity rates

Using a pool cover can also greatly reduce heat loss and further lower energy costs.

4. What temperature range does it operate in?

Most inverter models operate efficiently in ambient temperatures from approximately:

  • 5°F to 109°F (-15°C to 43°C)

Heating performance may vary in extreme cold conditions.

5. How long does it take to heat a pool?

Heating time depends on:

  • Pool size
  • Starting water temperature
  • Outdoor temperature
  • Desired set temperature

On average, a properly sized heat pump can raise water temperature by 1–2°F per hour under normal conditions.

Initial heating may take longer, but maintaining temperature is significantly more efficient.

6. Is it quiet when operating?

Yes. Inverter technology allows the unit to run at low speed most of the time.

Typical noise level:

  • Around 48–50 dB at 1 meter
(Comparable to light rainfall or a quiet conversation)
7. Is it energy efficient?

Yes. Inverter heat pumps typically operate at higher COP levels than fixed-speed models.

They adjust output automatically, reducing unnecessary power consumption.

8. Do I need a pool cover when using a heat pump?

Using a pool cover is strongly recommended.

A cover helps reduce heat loss from evaporation, allowing the heat pump to maintain water temperature more efficiently and significantly lowering energy consumption.

9. Can it both heat and cool the pool?
